About Theresa

Living proof that renewal works.

Hi, I’m Theresa Jefferson.

If you met me today, you’d see a Certified Health and Wellness Life Coach, a proud wife For Over Four Decades, a mother, and a grandmother who loves a good home-cooked meal and a great laugh.

You’d see a woman who feels vibrant, balanced, and deeply grateful. But the path here wasn’t a straight line. Growing up in a small rural town, my parents taught me the value of community, faith, and resilience. I watched my mother navigate severe mental health challenges with grace, and I watched my father serve our neighbors with generosity. They gave me a strong foundation, but when it came to my own holistic health, I found myself in uncharted territory.

How I Live The 10 Components

Theresa Jefferson at Event

I didn’t develop the Authentic Renewal Method because I reached a destination of perfection. I developed it because I needed a way to keep showing up for myself, such as reversing chronic diseases, even when life got hard. These 10 Components are what helped me reclaim my life, my sanity, and my spirit—and they are what keep me growing today. I am thriving, yes, but I am forever a work in progress.

Go ahead—click on each component below. I invite you to explore the specific struggles I faced in each area and the renewal I found.

Growing up in a small town could have made my world small, but I chose curiosity instead. From a pen pal exchange in Ghana to building friendships across borders, I learned that my world gets bigger (and better) when I invite different perspectives to the table. I realized connection is the cure for isolation.

Witnessing my mother’s mental health challenges taught me resilience, but perimenopause taught me vulnerability. When I felt my emotions spiraling, I didn’t hide. I sought holistic help, I prayed, and I learned to process my feelings. I stopped letting my emotions run the show.

After my car accidents, when the world felt loud, my garden became my sanctuary. Working in the soil brought me actual pain relief when medication couldn’t. I learned that your environment isn’t just where you are—it’s part of who you are. I curated peace in my surroundings to find peace in my mind.

My mother taught me how to be a lady on a budget. As an adult, I had to reevaluate my spending to align with my goals. I learned that financial wellness isn’t about being rich; it’s about being resourceful. It’s making sure your money funds your dreams, not your distractions.

As a child, I was isolated and teased, so I found escape in books. That loneliness birthed a superpower: a hunger for learning. From summer book marathons to earning my degree decades later, I have never stopped being a student. A sharp mind is the best anti-aging tool I own.

I used to think ‘keeping the peace’ meant staying silent. I had to learn the hard way that true wellness means having the courage to set boundaries. I aggressively worked toward a healthier marriage and severed ties with people who weren’t adding value. Clearing that space allowed the right people to come in.

By 40, my ‘comfort foods’ were making me uncomfortable. I had arthritis and no energy. I didn’t go on a crash diet; I went on a quest. I expanded my palate, experimented with nutrient-dense foods, and learned to listen to my body. Today, I don’t eat to be skinny—I eat to feel alive.

For years, I poured myself into others, but I realized I needed a career that poured back into me. Launching Authentic Renewal and earning my degree later in life proved to me that it is never too late to reinvent yourself. I found work that lights me up, rather than burns me out.

I know what it feels like to rely on a walker. At 60, after my accidents, I had to learn to walk again. I spent two and a half years in physical therapy. I celebrated every small step until they became big strides. Now, I respect my body not for how it looks, but for the incredible things it carries me through.

My faith is my anchor. When recovering from brain trauma, I couldn’t read or concentrate. So, I learned to sit in silence. I learned to hear God’s voice in the stillness. That foundation gave me the wisdom to navigate the hardest chapters of my life without losing hope.

I used to stress about which fork to use at dinner. Now, I focus on the food on the fork – and how it heals.

Never Too Late

I went back to earn my Bachelor’s in Health Science after my certification. Growth has no expiration date.

By the time I hit 40,

I felt like I was aging from the inside out. My knees ached, my digestion was a mess, and perimenopause had me feeling like a stranger in my own body. I didn’t like who I was becoming – physically or emotionally.

So, I made a choice. I stopped waiting for a miracle and started doing the work. I prayed, I researched, and I began a quest to heal myself naturally. That journey led me to become a certified Health and Wellness Coach, Speaker, and to launch Authentic Renewal—a space where women can be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Then, just as I was turning 60, life tested me again. Two major car accidents left me with brain trauma, severe pain, and the daunting task of learning to walk again. It was the 10 Components of Wellness that brought me back.

I don’t just teach this lifestyle; I live it. Every single day.

I am living proof that no matter what life throws at you – whether it’s a health crisis, a relationship struggle, or just the wear and tear of time – you have the power to renew, rebuild, and rediscover your joy.
